Luana is a helicopter pilot and a STEPHAN/H brand Ambassador. Originally from Rio de Janeiro, she recently moved in Vancouver and agreed to answer our questions to tell us more about her profession.

STEPHAN/H: How long have you been a pilot and why did you become one?

Luana Maria Torres Agra: I started flying in July 2014 and became an official pilot in November of the same year.I think I decided to become a pilot because I had my brother and my sister-in-law as an inspiration. They’re both helicopter pilots too.

STEPHAN/H: What are the challenges that you face in your day to day life as a pilot?

LMTA: I was living in Las Vegas and the high temperatures were a real challenge. Now i’m living in Vancouver and I will face the mountains, that means, the high altitudes. So I think a pilot has different challenges everyday.

STEPHAN/H: What is your favorite STEPHAN/H flight suit and why?

LMTA: I love the Rotor flight suit. It’s a one piece comfortable, beautiful, ergonomic and well designed suit. Love it!

STEPHAN/H: What is your favorite STEPHAN/H flying suit and why?

LMTA:  It’s really important because unlike airplane pilots, helicopter pilots have to be at controls the whole time. That means we need an ergonomic suit in order to perform our duty well. And that is not only when we are flying but also for the pre-flight check and the post flight.

STEPHAN/H: Do you have any advice for girls out there who dream of becoming a pilot too?

LMTA: I always say, “Don’t ever give up! It may seem hard in the beginning but with a lot of hard work and most important, with a lot of studies, it’s a dream that will come true. Don’t let anyone tell you you’re not capable of doing it. Show them you’re better than they think you are!”
