Who we are

We are Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS), and we fight every day to save lives. We are Team KSS, a close-knit team of dedicated, skilled, sector-leading experts with an incredible level of expertise. We are passionate about what we do which drives us to always deliver our very best.

We’re driven by our purpose of saving lives and ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients. Last year alone we attended over 2,500 incidents. We are fearless and tireless in fighting to save every life.

Our charity headquarters and forward operating base are located at Rochester Airport, with our aircraft hangared and maintained at Redhill Aerodrome. When the call comes, we can reach any part of Kent, Surrey or Sussex in under 30 minutes.

What we do

Patients are at the heart of everything we do. We deliver outstanding specialist treatment, care and support to give our patients their very best possible outcome.

Time is critical. Which is why our fleet of helicopters and Rapid Response Vehicles can transport our doctors and paramedics to our patients 24/7, 365 days a year.

We bring the emergency room to the scene and deliver life-saving care. We can perform open heart surgery, deliver anaesthetic and insert tubes to enable patients to breathe, and administer life-saving blood transfusions. We can do all of this at the side of a road, on a beach, in a park – wherever you need us.

Each mission is attended by a doctor – typically a specialist in anaesthesia or emergency medicine – and a paramedic who is trained in critical care and accustomed to challenging environments. The combination of their specialist skills means patients can be treated with world class, urgent medical care directly at the scene.

For 18 hours of the day, we operate with two crews. For the remaining six, when it is quieter but there are still people out there who are in need of our critical care, we operate with one crew.
